About the Role
Vanta is looking for a visionary Senior Software Engineer to join our Design Systems team, a group dedicated to creating the foundational tooling that empowers our internal teams to build seamless, high-quality user experiences. In this role, you will be the architect of our UI/UX standards, ensuring that every customer interaction with Vanta feels intuitive, consistent, and premium. As Vanta continues to scale, your work will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity of our product's look and feel, directly impacting how thousands of companies manage their security and trust. Key Responsibilities- Build, maintain, and iterate on a library of shared UI components to ensure they are consistent, bug-free, and excellently documented.
- Act as a lead advisor for UI/UX best practices at Vanta, bringing a high bar for design craft and ensuring components are both functional and refined.
- Educate the broader engineering organization on UX industry standards, accessibility requirements, and the proper implementation of our design system.
- Support product team use cases by identifying and building new shared patterns when necessary to extend the capabilities of the system.
- Drive technical direction within the Design Systems team, making critical decisions that form the system's stance and technical recommendations.
- Identify, scope, and lead technical projects that lay the groundwork for highly performant and reliable frontend systems.
- Mentor and uplevel junior teammates through rigorous code reviews, pair programming sessions, and active knowledge sharing.
- Champion the use of AI and modern developer tooling to amplify team efficiency and strengthen the quality of engineering output.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of professional software engineering experience with deep expertise in frontend development and design systems.
- Proven ability to drive complex, high-stakes technical initiatives independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Extensive experience building shared UI components and developer tooling that results in exceptional, accessible user-facing experiences.
- Strong proficiency in system design and software architecture, with a specific emphasis on accessibility (A11y) and user experience standards.
- Expert-level knowledge of TypeScript, React, component architecture, state management, and frontend performance optimization.
- Demonstrated leadership through mentorship, influencing engineering standards, and making sound architectural decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
