About the Role
Ada is looking for a motivated and curious Undergraduate DevOps Intern to join our world-class Engineering team for the Summer 2026 term. As an AI transformation platform that has powered over 5.5 billion interactions for global brands like Square and YETI, we are on a mission to make customer service extraordinary through automation. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of software development and systems operations, working behind the scenes to ensure our systems remain reliable, observable, and highly automated. This is a unique opportunity to transition your academic knowledge into a high-growth production environment where your contributions directly impact how enterprise companies deliver proactive and personalized experiences. Key ResponsibilitiesDuring your four-month internship, you will be deeply integrated into our DevOps/SRE workflows, moving beyond theoretical exercises to solve real-world infrastructure challenges. You will support the team in maintaining and improving Adas global infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance for our AI-driven services. Your daily tasks will include debugging production incidents, triaging technical issues, and helping resolve system failures to minimize downtime. You will take ownership of small but meaningful projects involving AWS and Terraform, while building scripts and automation tools to enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, you will work with our observability stackincluding Datadog and CloudWatchto build comprehensive dashboards, alerts, and health checks that provide critical insights into system health. Throughout the term, you will collaborate closely with software engineers, security experts, and platform specialists to deliver seamless and reliable services.
QualificationsWe are seeking candidates who are currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, specifically entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study. To succeed in this role, you should possess a solid foundation in Linux fundamentals, including a strong grasp of shell scripting, permissions, and process management. A basic understanding of networking principles, such as TCP/HTTP protocols, ports, and firewall rules, is essential for navigating our cloud environment. Exposure to cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation will give you a significant advantage. Beyond technical skills, we value candidates who demonstrate a diagnostic mindset, grit when facing complex bugs, and an insatiable curiosity for how large-scale systems work. You must be an effective communicator capable of explaining complex technical concepts and the rationale behind your solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
