About the Role
Artefacts (Asteria ART) is revolutionizing the robotics development lifecycle by building a sophisticated suite of tools for Continuous Simulation and CI integration. As we transition toward an increasingly automated and environmentally conscious society, we believe that advanced simulation and emerging AI techniques are the catalysts for the next leap in robotics. We are looking for a visionary Robotics Simulation Engineer to help us bridge the gap between digital development and physical reality by creating rich, high-fidelity virtual environments that challenge and refine modern robotic software.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement parametric and procedural 3D environments to provide diverse and scalable testing grounds for robotic systems.
- Integrate cutting-edge AI tools to automate the generation of 3D simulations and assets from text, images, and other multimodal inputs.
- Optimize and customize simulation engine performance (physics and rendering) to support high-fidelity testing at significant scale.
- Develop and implement custom sensor models within the simulation environment to replicate real-world data acquisition accurately.
- Collaborate directly with robotics software engineers to identify pain points and build developer-centric tools that streamline their workflow.
- Contribute to the evolution of our internal tech stack, advocating for best practices in Rust, Python, or C++ development.
- Strong proficiency in software development using Rust, Python, or C++.
- Hands-on experience building or extending 3D Engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or Ogre3D.
- Solid understanding of physics simulation frameworks like DART, ODE, or PhysX.
- Experience with parametric 3D modeling tools and techniques, such as Blender nodes or OpenSCAD.
- Familiarity with Generative AI applications for 3D modeling or CAD.
- A public portfolio of work, including Open Source contributions, GitHub repositories, technical blogs, or published research papers.
- Exceptional analytical skills and a startup-ready mindset—thriving in an environment that is fast-paced, collaborative, and often undefined.
- Preferred: Experience with Photogrammetry, NeRF, GIS data, or high-performance cloud computing (HPC).
- Flexible working arrangements with a remote-first culture; we value results over office hours.
- Modern office space located just 5 minutes from Shinjuku Station for those who prefer an in-person or hybrid setup.
- A growth-oriented environment that encourages asking "why" and provides ample room for personal and professional evolution.
- Commitment to an inclusive, transparent culture with honest salaries and no complex bonus structures.
- A unique opportunity to influence the direction of a growing startup as a true partner, not just an employee.
- Support for medical checkups in Tokyo and a hardware-friendly environment for those based in Japan.
- Flexible commitment options, offering both full-time and part-time tracks to suit your lifestyle.
We believe that the best work happens when passionate people collaborate freely. Our application process is designed to be a mutual discovery of skills and values, starting with an exploration of your past achievements and public contributions. If you are ready to build the future of robotics simulation, we look forward to hearing from you.
