As we embark on an exciting new chapter following a multi-million-dollar renovation, we invite a skilled Staff Housing Caretaker to join our Engineering and Facility Operations team. In this pivotal role, you will be the guardian of our residential community, ensuring that our team members enjoy a safe, functional, and high-quality living environment that reflects the excellence of the Fairmont brand.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Facility Operations, you will balance hands-on technical maintenance with strategic vendor coordination. You are a multi-skilled professional who takes pride in property aesthetics and operational readiness, acting as the primary point of contact for housing repairs and preventative asset care. Key Responsibilities- General Maintenance & Technical Repairs: Execute daily minor repairs across housing units and common areas, focusing on carpentry, painting, masonry, and non-complex plumbing or electrical fixes.
- Specialized Coordination: Identify complex HVAC, electrical, and plumbing issues and oversee certified contractors to ensure all work meets stringent safety and quality standards.
- Property & Grounds Stewardship: Conduct routine inspections of buildings and outdoor spaces to maintain visual appeal and mitigate potential safety risks proactively.
- Preventative Maintenance: Implement and document asset care programs using the Transcendent work order system to ensure the longevity of housing equipment and infrastructure.
- Vendor & Project Management: Supervise external service providers, monitor contractor performance for cost-effectiveness, and support minor capital improvement projects.
- Resident Readiness: Partner with the People & Culture team to conduct pre- and post-occupancy inspections, ensuring every unit is perfectly prepared for new arrivals.
- Inventory Control: Maintain an organized inventory of tools and supplies, practicing proactive material planning and cost-control initiatives.
- Proven Expertise: Significant experience in facility maintenance, property management, or a general caretaker role, preferably within a luxury hospitality or residential environment.
- Technical Proficiency: A broad skill set encompassing carpentry, minor plumbing, basic electrical troubleshooting, and general building repairs.
- System Savvy: Experience utilizing digital work order systems and maintenance tracking software to manage operational workflows.
- Education & Training: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in a specific trade (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing) is considered a distinct advantage.
- Problem Solving: Exceptional troubleshooting skills with the ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in various outdoor conditions.
