About the Role
Delta Air Lines is looking for a detail-oriented and highly organized Specialist Payroll to join our world-class team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the seamless execution of payroll activities across a diverse global employee base, including regular staff, retirees, flight attendants, and expatriates. You will play a critical part in maintaining Delta’s reputation for excellence by ensuring that every team member is paid accurately and on time, while upholding the highest standards of data integrity and regulatory compliance.
This position offers a unique opportunity to manage complex payroll workstreams, ranging from global mobility payments and disability-related payroll needs to garnishment processing and tax validation. As a key member of our payroll operations, you will act as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders in HR, Benefits, and Finance. Success in this role requires a blend of technical payroll expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate sensitive information with the utmost discretion. Whether working from a central office or a remote environment, you will be a champion of continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Execute end-to-end payroll processing for multiple populations, including flight crews, expatriates, and disability-related cases, ensuring strict adherence to timelines.
- Review and validate payroll inputs and outputs to identify discrepancies, resolve errors, and maintain audit-ready records.
- Manage specialized payroll functions such as garnishment processing, banking data updates, and global mobility payment adjustments.
- Support tax-related payroll activities, including the review and resolution of tax compliance issues and year-end reporting.
- Research and resolve complex employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, direct deposits, and tax withholdings with professional clarity.
- Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Finance partners to streamline data flow and ensure cross-functional alignment.
- Maintain internal controls and comply with company policies and regulatory requirements to safeguard personal and financial data.
- Contribute to the optimization of payroll systems and processes by identifying recurring gaps and implementing best-practice solutions.
- Participate in payroll reconciliations, internal audits, and comprehensive year-end payroll closing activities.
- Must possess legal authorization to work and live in Jamaica at the time of application (Delta does not provide sponsorship).
- Proven experience in payroll operations, payroll processing, or a closely related financial function.
- Foundational knowledge of payroll controls, tax regulations, and issue resolution methodologies.
- Possession of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent; advanced certification in payroll is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll matters to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to travel internationally, including to the United States, for training and business meetings as required.
- Proficiency in managing confidential information and prioritizing tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
- Preferred: Experience with expatriate payroll, global mobility, or complex disability payroll processing.
