As a Software Engineer at Obsidian, you will join a high-caliber team dedicated to building resilient and scalable systems. You are a generalist at heart who thrives on variety and is comfortable navigating different layers of a product codebase. Whether you are optimizing a high-throughput data ingestion service, architecting a new API for customer workflows, or collaborating with security researchers to implement detection logic, your work will directly protect hundreds of global organizations, including Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 enterprises.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain core product features across backend services, APIs, and data processing systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and security researchers to ship reliable, high-quality software that solves real-world security challenges.
- Own the development of services that handle massive volumes of SaaS activity, identity data, permissions, and security alerts.
- Iterate on existing systems to improve performance, maintainability, and observability, ensuring the platform scales alongside our growing global customer base.
- Write clean, well-tested, and documented code while participating in peer code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
- Debug complex production issues and contribute to internal tools that streamline our development and deployment processes.
- Adapt quickly to new technologies and product areas, moving seamlessly between different engineering domains as business needs evolve.
- Professional experience in software engineering with a strong emphasis on backend development and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java, and a solid understanding of software design patterns.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with complex data models in SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in an environment where requirements may not always be fully mapped out.
- A product-driven mindset, with a focus on delivering value to users through practical and efficient engineering solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote-first, global team.
- Prior experience in cybersecurity, SaaS integrations, or large-scale data pipelines is highly desirable but not mandatory.
