About the Role

Deep Fission, Inc. is at the forefront of a nuclear energy revolution, developing a first-of-its-kind deep borehole pressurized water reactor that promises to transform the global energy landscape. Following a successful private placement and transition to a public company, we are scaling our operations at an unprecedented pace to bridge the gap between groundbreaking innovation and commercial viability. We are seeking a visionary Senior Director of Nuclear Program Development & Integration to serve as the architect of our corporate operational framework. This executive-level role is designed for a strategic integrator who can harmonize engineering, quality assurance, procurement, and safety into a unified, high-performing system. As we advance toward NRC licensing and site-based operations, you will be the driving force ensuring our programs evolve with the rigor, coherence, and credibility required for global deployment. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of clean energy while working in a flexible, remote-first environment that values both technical excellence and startup agility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the strategic integration of all nuclear development programs, ensuring that engineering milestones align perfectly with regulatory, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Direct the evolution of the company’s Quality Assurance (QA) programs to meet stringent NRC NQA-1 standards and other critical regulatory frameworks.
  • Act as a primary liaison between technical departments and executive leadership to ensure organizational readiness for commercial-scale deployment.
  • Lead the development of procurement and supply chain strategies that support the unique requirements of deep borehole reactor components and long-lead items.
  • Champion a robust nuclear safety culture throughout the organization, embedding safety and compliance into the lifecycle of every project from design to decommissioning.
  • Manage and refine the operational roadmap, identifying potential bottlenecks in construction and site-integration phases and implementing proactive solutions.
  • Coordinate with external strategic partners, including the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), to maintain alignment on technical specifications and project timelines.
  • Supervise the transition of program documentation and organizational processes as the company scales from R&D phases into a fully operational public entity.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience within the nuclear power industry, specifically in pressurized water reactor (PWR) technology or advanced reactor designs.
  • Proven track record of navigating complex U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensing processes and maintaining high levels of regulatory credibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale organizational programs from early-stage development to full-scale operational maturity.
  • Strong background in Quality Assurance (NQA-1) and the successful integration of technical programs across multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into strategic corporate objectives for public company reporting.
  • Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; a Master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced startup environment or a newly public company, demonstrating the ability to balance innovation with administrative rigor.

Benefits
  • Competitive executive compensation package including salary, performance bonuses, and equity options in a public company.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans for employees and their dependents.
  • Fully remote work environment with flexible scheduling to promote a healthy work-life integration.
  • The opportunity to lead the deployment of a truly revolutionary technology that will define the future of sustainable, carbon-free energy.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with competitive company matching contributions.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and professional development allowances to support continuous career growth.
