Akuity is seeking a visionary Senior Backend Engineer to join our mission-driven team and help redefine the landscape of cloud-native software delivery. In this role, you will be more than just a coder; you will be an architect of developer experience. We are looking for an engineer who possesses an empathic mindset and understands the intricate pain points of modern DevOps and Platform Engineering teams. Your work will directly reduce the complexity of Kubernetes, enabling developers to own their deployments without the fear of system instability. Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance backend services for the Akuity SaaS platform, ensuring scalability and security across multi-cluster environments.
- Architect and implement robust APIs and microservices that facilitate seamless GitOps workflows and integrate deeply with the Kubernetes ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers to translate complex requirements into elegant, maintainable technical solutions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and the promotion of industry best practices in backend development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our internal engineering culture, advocating for testing automation, documentation, and operational excellence.
- Participate in the evolution of the Argo CD open-source project and the broader CNCF community, representing Akuity at the cutting edge of cloud-native technology.
- Analyze system performance and troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues to ensure the highest level of availability for our global enterprise customers.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in backend software engineering, with a proven track record of building and scaling enterprise-grade SaaS applications.
- Extensive experience with modern backend programming languages, with a strong preference for Golang, and a deep understanding of distributed systems architecture.
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes, including container orchestration, custom resource definitions (CRDs), and the cloud-native ecosystem.
- Demonstrated experience with GitOps principles and tools, particularly Argo CD, and a passion for improving the developer journey.
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and experience managing cloud-native infrastructure at scale.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
