About the Role

The Dipartimento della Funzione Pubblica is pleased to announce a public selection process for the recruitment of two high-caliber professionals to join the Transport Regulation Authority (ART) in the role of Economist (Profile Code: FE-TD). This is a unique opportunity for analytical minds to contribute to the economic stability and regulatory excellence of the national transport sector. As an Economist within this prestigious public body, you will play a pivotal role in conducting complex economic assessments, monitoring market dynamics, and providing data-driven insights that shape regulatory policies and promote fair competition.

This appointment is offered on a fixed-term basis for an initial duration of twenty-four months, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional periods of the same duration. We are looking for dedicated individuals who possess a rigorous academic background and a commitment to public service excellence. If you are an expert in economic theory and its practical application within regulated markets, this role offers a platform to influence the strategic direction of the Italian transport infrastructure.

The successful candidates will be integrated into the Authority's technical departments, performing high-level analytical tasks including:

• Conducting quantitative and qualitative economic research to support regulatory decision-making processes.
• Analyzing market trends, pricing strategies, and cost structures within various transport sectors (rail, road, maritime, and aviation).
• Developing economic models to evaluate the impact of regulatory interventions on consumers and stakeholders.
• Preparing detailed technical reports, policy briefs, and documentation for the Authority's leadership.
• Monitoring compliance with national and international economic regulations and standards.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective implementation of regulatory frameworks.

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this selection process:

• Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Finance, or a strictly related field.
• Proven expertise in economic analysis, preferably with experience in regulated industries or public administration.
• Strong proficiency in statistical software and economic modeling tools.
• In-depth knowledge of European and national regulatory frameworks governing the transport sector.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Full professional proficiency in Italian and a strong command of technical English.
• Compliance with the general requirements for public employment in Italy.
