About the Role

AccessLex Institute is seeking a highly analytical and mission-driven Research Analyst to join our team in shaping the future of legal education. For nearly 40 years, our nonprofit organization has partnered with member law schools to increase access, improve affordability, and bolster the success of aspiring legal professionals. In this role, you will leverage empirical research and sophisticated data analysis to provide actionable insights that influence policy and practice within the legal education community. We are looking for a professional who is passionate about education equity and possesses the technical expertise to turn complex datasets into compelling narratives that drive institutional change.

As a key member of the research division, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scholars and policy experts. Your work will directly support our initiatives to reduce the barriers to entry for underrepresented students and improve the overall outcomes for law school graduates. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a deep curiosity for data and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a legacy of service while working at the forefront of educational research and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute comprehensive quantitative and qualitative research projects focused on legal education trends, student debt, and bar passage outcomes.
  • Clean, manage, and analyze large-scale longitudinal datasets using advanced statistical software to identify patterns and predict future outcomes.
  • Draft high-quality research reports, white papers, and academic manuscripts for publication in internal journals and external peer-reviewed outlets.
  • Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards to communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders and law school administrators.
  • Present research findings at national conferences, webinars, and member meetings to enhance the visibility of AccessLex Institutes research agenda.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide data support for advocacy efforts and the development of new programs and services for law students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing educational interventions and grant-funded projects through rigorous impact analysis.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in higher education research, psychometrics, and statistical methodology to ensure the organization remains a thought leader in the field.

Qualifications
  • A Masters degree or Doctorate in Education Research, Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.
  • A minimum of three to five years of professional experience in institutional research, policy analysis, or academic research environments.
  • Expert proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, Stata, or SPSS, with a proven ability to perform multivariate regression and longitudinal modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience in survey design, implementation, and analysis, including knowledge of psychometric validation techniques.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple research timelines simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • A deep commitment to the mission of AccessLex Institute and a desire to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal profession.
  • Experience working with education-specific datasets, such as IPEDS or LSSSE, is highly preferred.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your physical and financial well-being.
  • Generous employer contributions to retirement accounts, including a 403(b) plan with immediate vesting.
  • High-quality health, dental, and vision insurance options with low employee premiums.
  • Ample paid time off, including vacation days, personal days, sick leave, and paid holidays.
  • Support for professional development, including tuition reimbursement and funding for conference attendance and certifications.
  • Flexible remote work environment that encourages a healthy work-life balance while maintaining high levels of productivity and collaboration.
  • A mission-driven culture that values diverse perspectives and fosters a sense of belonging and professional growth.
