About the Role

Hopelab is seeking a Policy Intern for a five-month, part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) remote position starting in July 2026. The intern will support Hopelabs policy agenda, which includes Medicaid, the future of social media and AI, and intersectional issues impacting youth mental health such as housing, food insecurity, and climate change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track and analyze youth mental health (YMH) legislation and regulations at both the state and federal levels.
  • Provide research assistance for YMH-related policy concepts and create information briefs.
  • Support educational briefings and develop content for the Hopelab Policy webpage.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Communications and Policy Team to influence evidence-based policymaking.
Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in a graduate degree program in social sciences (MPH / MPP programs strongly preferred).
  • Completed coursework in public policy, health policy, or research methods.
  • General familiarity with state and federal legislative processes and the U.S. health system.
  • Strong research, writing, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated interest in youth mental health, technology, and equity.
Terms and Compensation

This is a 20-hour per week remote internship paying $33.00/hr. The position offers direct mentorship from the Policy Director and integration into a cross-functional professional team.
