Policy Intern

About the Role

Hopelab is seeking a Policy Intern for a five-month, part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) remote position starting in July 2026. The intern will support Hopelab�s policy agenda, which includes Medicaid, the future of social media and AI, and intersectional issues impacting youth mental health such as housing, food insecurity, and climate change.

• Track and analyze youth mental health (YMH) legislation and regulations at both the state and federal levels.
• Provide research assistance for YMH-related policy concepts and create information briefs.
• Support educational briefings and develop content for the Hopelab Policy webpage.
• Collaborate with the Strategic Communications and Policy Team to influence evidence-based policymaking.

• Current enrollment in a graduate degree program in social sciences (MPH / MPP programs strongly preferred).
• Completed coursework in public policy, health policy, or research methods.
• General familiarity with state and federal legislative processes and the U.S. health system.
• Strong research, writing, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated interest in youth mental health, technology, and equity.

This is a 20-hour per week remote internship paying $33.00/hr. The position offers direct mentorship from the Policy Director and integration into a cross-functional professional team.
