As a Patient Advocate, you will be at the forefront of this mission, serving as a dedicated liaison between patients and healthcare providers to provide clarity, empathy, and resolution to the medical billing process.
This is a high-impact, fully remote position where you will act as a holistic account manager for our patients. You will go beyond standard customer service by anticipating potential billing hurdles and navigating complex insurance landscapes to ensure every patient receives a pleasant and efficient experience. We are looking for mission-driven individuals who are comfortable in a fast-paced, tech-enabled environment and are passionate about advocating for consumer rights in the healthcare space.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a high volume of 60-80 daily patient interactions via live chat, phone, and email to resolve complex medical billing inquiries.
- Utilize the Cedar platform to perform inbound and outbound communication campaigns, ensuring patients understand their financial obligations and options.
- Act as an account manager to lead the payment posting process and proactively follow up on defaulted or missed payments.
- Collaborate directly with healthcare providers and insurance carriers to run and track escalations to final resolution.
- Meet and exceed specific team and individual performance metrics related to patient satisfaction and collection efficiency.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while toggling between multiple electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- 2-3 years of professional customer service experience, specifically within a high-volume call center or phone-based environment.
- 1-2 years of direct experience in medical billing, healthcare insurance, or a related healthcare administrative field.
- Technical proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic, Athena (Centricity Business), eClinicalWorks, Nextgen, or Medik.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Google Suite and the ability to type efficiently while navigating multiple software windows.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information with empathy.
- A self-motivated mindset with the ability to thrive in an ambiguous, rapidly evolving startup environment.
