About the Role

Obelisk Support is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal specializing in commercial contracts to join a pioneering UK-based organization at the forefront of flexible electronics. This unique role offers a high degree of flexibility, operating on a part-time basis of two to three days per week with a hybrid structure that requires only one visit to the Cambridge office per month. As an immediate-start position with an initial three-month term, this is a strategic opportunity for a legal professional to prove their value and transition into a permanent, in-house legal role within a fast-growing technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will serve as a vital pillar of the legal function, working closely with the General Counsel to ensure the business remains agile and legally sound. Your primary focus will involve the end-to-end management of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and a variety of standard commercial contracts. Using established templates and comprehensive guidance, you will draft, review, and negotiate terms to protect the companys interests while facilitating smooth business operations.

Beyond drafting, you will take ownership of contract administration and workflow management. This includes meticulous tracking of contract stages, maintaining organized filing systems, and ensuring that all legal documentation moves efficiently through the approval process. You will also provide essential support for company secretarial and governance tasks, assisting the General Counsel with board-level administration and regulatory compliance. By handling these critical operational tasks, you will allow senior legal counsel to focus on high-level strategy, making you an indispensable asset to the legal department.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a proven track record as a Paralegal, specifically within the realm of commercial contracts, gained either in-house or within a reputable private practice. You must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in interpreting legal language and a keen eye for detail when reviewing complex documentation. We are looking for an individual who is highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities independently while maintaining clear lines of communication with stakeholders at all levels.

A genuine interest in technology is essential, as you will be immersed in an industry defined by innovation and technical advancement. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and possess the proactive mindset required to keep the legal function responsive. Academic background in law (LLB, GDL, or LPC) is preferred, but equivalent practical experience in commercial legal environments is highly valued. Most importantly, you should be ready to hit the ground running and contribute to the team from day one.

Benefits

At Obelisk Support, we champion a #humanfirst approach to business, prioritizing flexibility and professional fulfillment. This role provides an excellent work-life balance through its part-time schedule and remote-first hybrid model, making it ideal for those seeking a sophisticated legal role that fits their personal lifestyle. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and gain deep insights into the flexible electronics industry, all while receiving mentorship from senior legal experts.

Furthermore, we are deeply committed to diversity and inclusion. We foster a culture where everyone is welcome and supported, ensuring that no applicant or employee receives less favorable treatment based on protected characteristics. We also offer reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to ensure you can perform at your best. This position not only offers immediate professional engagement but also serves as a direct pipeline to a long-term, permanent career within a thriving in-house legal team.
