We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer III specializing in Nuclear Safety Analysis to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution of sophisticated design, analysis, and evaluation activities for the deep borehole pressurized water reactor, ensuring all technical outputs adhere to sound nuclear engineering principles.
  • Perform comprehensive nuclear and radiological safety analyses to define the safety envelope of the reactor and support the development of safety basis documentation.
  • Conduct detailed shielding design and radiation transport calculations to protect personnel and equipment, utilizing industry-standard modeling software.
  • Perform reactivity and criticality control analyses to ensure safe reactor operation across all phases of the fuel cycle, including startup, steady-state, and shutdown conditions.
  • Support the nuclear core design process by modeling neutronics behavior and optimizing fuel management strategies for the borehole environment.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation to support regulatory submittals and active engagement with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, thermal-hydraulic, and structural engineers, to ensure integrated safety and performance throughout the reactor lifecycle.
  • Evaluate and implement new computational tools or methodologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of nuclear safety evaluations.

Qualifications
  • Masters or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field is highly preferred; a Bachelors degree with significant industry experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional experience in nuclear reactor design, safety analysis, or a related technical capacity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in using nuclear analysis codes such as MCNP, SCALE, ORIGEN, or similar reactor physics and shielding suites.
  • In-depth understanding of NRC regulations, including 10 CFR Part 50 or Part 52, and the regulatory requirements for nuclear safety analysis.
  • Strong background in radiological protection, criticality safety, and the physics of pressurized water reactors.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to solve complex engineering problems and present technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-style environment or on advanced reactor concepts is a significant plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
