About the Role

School District No. 27 (Cariboo-Chilcotin) is seeking a dedicated and adventurous educator for a full-time, continuing Multi-Grade Primary (K-3) position starting September 1, 2026. This role is specifically designed for teachers who are drawn to the beauty of the natural world and the unique rewards of teaching in a geographically remote environment. Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqottin, and Dakelh people, this position offers the opportunity to make a profound impact within a close-knit community while enjoying a lifestyle surrounded by the wilderness of British Columbia. If you are a versatile educator with a passion for multi-grade instruction and a desire to integrate cultural perspectives into the classroom, we invite you to grow your career with us.

Key Responsibilities

As a Multi-Grade Primary Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive and engaging curriculum to a diverse group of learners from Kindergarten through Grade 3. Your role extends beyond the classroom as you collaborate with First Nations communities to ensure educational practices are culturally responsive and inclusive. You will design and implement instructional strategies that cater to various grade levels simultaneously, fostering an environment where every student can thrive. The school operates on an extended 4.5-day weekly schedule, providing Friday afternoons off to explore the local environment or manage personal commitments. You will also be expected to utilize your problem-solving skills to navigate the logistics of a remote location, ensuring that high-quality education remains accessible to all students regardless of geography.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess a valid British Columbia Teaching Certification with the Teacher Regulation Branch and have a proven track record of teaching multi-grade settings at the primary level. We are looking for an individual who is not only a skilled educator but also someone who is personally suited for remote living. You must have the ability to teach a wide range of subjects and adapt your pedagogy to meet the needs of diverse learners. Experience working with First Nations communities is highly valued, as is a genuine desire to be surrounded by nature and an ability to be comfortable with basic amenities. Due to the geography of the region, you must possess adequate transportation suitable for multi-surface highways and rural roads. Please note that applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada, as this position is not eligible for LMIA sponsorship.

Benefits

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $63,347.00 to $116,190.00, based on the current salary grid, BC TQS verification, and recognized years of service. Beyond the base salary, we provide a Rural Recruitment and Retention Allowance and a monthly Rural Travel allowance during the school year. To support your transition, subsidized teacherages (mobile homes) are available, which can be provided furnished, semi-furnished, or empty to suit your needs; a relocation allowance may also be available. We are deeply committed to teacher success and offer a structured mentorship program for those in their first two years of teaching, with additional mentorship opportunities available via our collective agreement. Furthermore, our district invests heavily in professional development, providing access to six dedicated educational leaders who offer hands-on coaching and session-based training. Teachers also benefit from the strong support of the Cariboo Chilcotin Teachers' Association, ensuring a collaborative and well-supported professional environment.
