Synchrony Group, LLC is looking for a meticulous and passionate Medical Editor to join our premier network of medical communications experts. In this role, you will play a vital part in improving patient lives by ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and scientific integrity of high-impact medical content. As a key collaborator within our integrated groups of scientific, creative, and commercial experts, you will work in a dynamic, remote-friendly environment that values excellence, mutual respect, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities- Perform substantive editing, fact-checking, and proofreading for a wide range of medical communications materials, including slide decks, video scripts, digital applications, and meeting materials.
- Ensure all deliverables strictly adhere to the American Medical Association (AMA) Manual of Style, client-specific brand guidelines, and agency standards.
- Validate layouts and digital programming against approved manuscripts to ensure 100% accuracy in the final project lifecycle.
- Manage the end-to-end reference process, including verifying reference lists, managing library upkeep, and processing copyright permission requests for published figures and tables.
- Facilitate the submission of promotional and educational pieces through the Veeva Vault system, serving as a technical subject-matter expert for document review processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Services and Creative Services teams to resolve editorial discrepancies and brainstorm solutions for complex content challenges.
- Develop and maintain product-specific style guides to ensure consistency across large-scale, multi-channel pharmaceutical campaigns.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a scientific discipline or English.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical or medical editing.
- Proven expertise in the AMA Manual of Style and a deep understanding of promotional activity regulations.
- Direct experience working within a medical communications agency or a pharmaceutical marketing department is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, with working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Excel.
- Experience with Veeva Vault or similar electronic document review systems is a significant advantage.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently in a remote setting while remaining a cohesive part of a larger team.
