About the Role

GrandBridge Energy Inc. is looking for a meticulous and safety-oriented Locator to join our dedicated team. In this critical field-based role, you will be responsible for the precise identification and marking of underground hydro infrastructure, playing a vital part in preventing utility damage and ensuring the safety of excavation crews and the general public. As a key member of our Operations team, you will bridge the gap between technical mapping and real-world excavation, utilizing advanced specialized equipment to protect our community’s electrical network.

• Perform highly accurate locates of underground hydro cables to safeguard personnel and prevent costly damage to the electrical distribution system.
• Systematically review and prioritize incoming locate requests, coordinating directly with site supervisors and contractors to confirm the scope of work.
• Deploy specialized locate devices, including ring clamps and meter stack connections, to effectively trace live wires and main switches.
• Execute all physical requirements of the locate process, including the safe opening of service pits and coordinating the inspection of pad-mount transformers for primary and secondary cables.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering and Operations departments to resolve GIS data disparities and provide technical insights for overhead and underground maintenance programs.
• Act as a primary liaison between GrandBridge Energy and various stakeholders, including customers, municipal bodies, and other utility providers such as Bell, Rogers, and Union Gas.
• Maintain a commitment to a positive and inclusive workplace culture by providing exceptional customer service and fostering collaborative professional relationships.

• A minimum of 3 years of direct utility experience specifically in underground locating or a closely related field.
• Deep technical expertise in underground cable tracing and the use of modern locating technology.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations, including the E&USA Rule Book, ESA Regulations, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA).
• Proven proficiency in the MS Office Suite for documentation and reporting purposes.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license in good standing is mandatory for travel to various job sites.
