About the Role
Brahma AI is revolutionizing the landscape of digital communication by building an end-to-end system for content creation that features photorealistic digital humans. Powered by our proprietary models, ATMAN (visual identity) and VAANI (voice), our platform enables these digital entities to speak fluently and naturally across a wide range of global languages. We are currently establishing a dedicated in-house linguistics function to ensure our output is not only accurately translated but achieves linguistic and vocal excellence on a global scale. As a Localisation Linguist, you will be a founding member of this team, moving beyond traditional translation roles to own the quality of both text and voice while directly influencing the development of our internal localization tools and voice interfaces. Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will hold a dual mandate: ensuring linguistic excellence in our output and refining the systems that generate it. You will be the primary steward of quality for your target language, working at the intersection of text and synthesis. Your core duties include:
- Driving the full linguistic quality lifecycle, including meticulous review, quality control, and corrective measures for translated text in your target language to ensure cultural and contextual accuracy.
- Evaluating synthesized voice output generated by the VAANI model, assessing linguistic correctness, naturalness, prosody, pronunciation, emotion, and timing to ensure a lifelike user experience.
- Collaborating directly with the VAANI voice engineering team to define, refine, and improve how voice is generated and evaluated for specific linguistic markets and dialects.
- Acting as the pioneering internal user of our proprietary localization platform, providing critical feedback to design workflows, review screens, and validation tools that other linguists will eventually utilize.
- Developing and maintaining essential linguistic assets, including comprehensive style guides, glossaries, evaluation criteria, and specialized pronunciation dictionaries that serve as the ground truth for our models.
- Establishing high-quality standards and turnaround expectations for external vendors and internal native speakers, supervising their work to ensure consistency across high volumes of content.
- Translating complex linguistic challenges and nuances into structured, actionable data and feedback for our engineering and product teams to facilitate continuous model improvements.
We are looking for expert linguists who are passionate about the future of AI and possess a builders mindset. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Native or near-native command of one or more of the following languages: English, Mandarin Chinese (Simplified), Spanish (Latin American and Castilian), Hindi, Arabic (MSA), Portuguese (Brazilian), Japanese, Korean, French, German, Italian, or Turkish.
- Professional fluency in English is required for internal collaboration and technical communication.
- An advanced degree or equivalent professional experience in Linguistics, Translation, Localisation, or a related field with a focus on phonetics or speech.
- Advanced proficiency with AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs); you trust AI where it earns it but understand where human intervention is necessary to achieve excellence.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, undefined startup environment where you are comfortable building processes and structures where none previously existed.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain subtle linguistic nuances to non-linguistic engineers and convert vague product goals into concrete language requirements.
- A quality-obsessed yet pragmatic approach to work, maintaining a high bar for excellence while meeting the demands of a rapid shipping cycle.
- Technical literacy sufficient to understand, at a high level, how AI models behave and the typical failure modes of synthetic media.
- Experience with Text-to-Speech (TTS) evaluation, CAT tools, or QA platforms is highly desirable.
