About the Role

HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving youth health through innovative education, leadership, and service-learning programs. As our Learning & Development Specialist, you will serve as the connective tissue between our high-quality health curriculum and the college-age mentors who bring it to life in classrooms across the country. This remote role is designed for a creative educator and coach who can translate complex lesson plans into actionable, engaging training experiences for Gen-Z mentors, ensuring they have the confidence and skills to inspire the next generation of change agents.

You will be the architect of the mentor training journey, designing everything from initial onboarding to ongoing professional development. This is more than just a training role; it is a professional development engine. Many of our mentors are pre-health students heading into careers in medicine and public health, and your coaching will shape how they show up as future healthcare professionals. By partnering closely with our curriculum, program, and evaluation teams, you will ensure our programming is realistic, impactful, and responsive to the real-world dynamics of middle and high school settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor Training & Onboarding: Design and deliver comprehensive onboarding programs that prepare mentors to manage diverse settings, from large classroom environments to intimate club-based sessions.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Build and maintain a suite of ongoing support resources, including monthly live sessions, office hours, and coaching check-ins to foster mastery of the curriculum.
  • Creative Content Creation: Develop modern, mentor-ready resources such as short-form videos, how-to guides, push notifications, and interactive LMS modules tailored to how college students consume information.
  • Curriculum Pressure-Testing: Collaborate with the curriculum team to review lesson plans for feasibility, ensuring activities fit within 60-minute windows and that mentors have the necessary supplies and guidance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Regional Program Managers to provide the training tools they need for local supervision and work with the data team to address training gaps identified through fidelity scores.
  • Field Observation: Spend 10-15% of your time observing mentors in the field to gather qualitative insights and ensure training remains practical and responsive to ground-level needs.

Qualifications
  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in education, instructional design, youth development, public health, or training and coaching.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Target Audience Expertise: Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate young adults, specifically college students, with an understanding of modern learning preferences.
  • Technical Proficiency: High comfort level with Learning Management Systems (LearnUpon preferred), video editing, and design tools like Canva.
  • Facilitation Skills: Exceptional ability to lead engaging live training sessions, whether in-person or via platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: A creative thinker who thrives in "build-from-scratch" environments and is energized by the challenge of ambiguity.
  • Logistical Readiness: Ability to travel nationally (10-15%) and work occasional evening hours as required by program schedules.

Benefits
  • Competitive Compensation: Annual salary range of $50,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience and location.
  • Work-Life Balance: Remote work flexibility combined with generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and observance of most federal holidays.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans.
  • Financial Security: 401(k) plan with company matching and employer-provided life insurance.
  • Mission-Driven Culture: The opportunity to work within an entrepreneurial, mission-obsessed team dedicated to health equity and community empowerment.
