About the Role
KAST is seeking a meticulous and proactive KYC Compliance Analyst to join our Legal & Compliance department. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a primary line of defense against financial crime by verifying client identities, assessing financial risk profiles, and ensuring our operations remain fully compliant with evolving anti-money laundering (AML) and regulatory requirements. This is a remote-first position offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States, with a slight preference for candidates based in Florida.
As a subject matter expert in Know Your Customer protocols, you will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our financial institution. You will be responsible for navigating complex ownership structures and investigating high-risk profiles to safeguard our platform. The ideal candidate possesses a sharp analytical mind, an unwavering attention to detail, and the ability to communicate sensitive compliance findings effectively across various internal departments.
Key Responsibilities- Due Diligence Management: Execute comprehensive Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on new and existing clients to verify identity, ultimate beneficial ownership (UBO), and complex business activities.
- Risk Screening & Analysis: Perform rigorous background checks by screening individuals and entities against global sanctions lists, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) databases, and adverse media to mitigate financial crime risks.
- Documentation Oversight: Collect, review, and validate critical supporting documentation, including passports, articles of incorporation, and financial statements, ensuring total alignment with internal policies and federal laws.
- Reporting & Escalation: Document detailed investigative findings and prepare suspicious activity reports (SARs) for submission to compliance officers or regulatory bodies when anomalies are detected.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a compliance advisor to the Front Office, Sales, and Relationship Management teams, providing clarity on onboarding requirements and the status of pending applications.
- Process Optimization: Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal controls, compliance workflows, and automated reporting systems to enhance the accuracy and speed of the onboarding journey.
- Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of AML/KYC regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, and FINRA frameworks.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: 2 to 5 years of dedicated experience in compliance, risk management, or financial services, specifically focused on KYC/AML workflows.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends or red flags that may indicate potential risk or fraudulent activity.
- Research Proficiency: Skilled in utilizing industry-standard research tools and databases such as World-Check, Dow Jones, Dun & Bradstreet, and various international company registries.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex compliance requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred Certifications: Professional designations such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or CFE are highly regarded.
