About the Role
Carewell is looking for a dedicated and empathetic Healthcare Intake Coordinator to join our growing team in Alberta. In this remote role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for new patients, ensuring a seamless entry into our care programs while maintaining the highest standards of administrative excellence and patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the end-to-end patient intake process, including screening referrals and conducting initial clinical assessments to determine eligibility for services.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to facilitate timely care transitions.
- Accurately input and maintain patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system while adhering to provincial healthcare privacy regulations and HIPAA standards.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations to ensure patients receive uninterrupted access to required treatments.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to explain service offerings, answer inquiries, and provide guidance on the onboarding process.
- Monitor intake queues and prioritize urgent cases to meet departmental service-level agreements and improve patient outcomes.
- Generate regular reports on intake metrics and identify opportunities for workflow optimization within the administrative department.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare administration, medical intake, or a similar clinical support role within the Canadian healthcare system.
- Post-secondary education in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Deep understanding of Alberta health services regulations, patient privacy laws (HIA), and medical terminology.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and empathy.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a proven track record of managing high-volume workloads in a remote environment.
