Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, managed by Hawaiian, is an award-winning sanctuary situated on the white sands of the world-renowned Cable Beach in Broome, far north Western Australia. Our property is a premier destination featuring 225 uniquely styled guest rooms, four high-end restaurants, poolside bars, a dedicated tour desk, and the luxurious Chahoya Day Spa and Hair Salon. We are currently looking for a versatile and dedicated Handyperson to join our maintenance team in either a casual or full-time capacity. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the physical upkeep and preventative maintenance of our stunning resort grounds, guest rooms, and back-of-house facilities. Broome offers an unparalleled lifestyle, easily accessible by plane to all major Australian cities, and provides a relaxed atmosphere combined with the convenience of modern infrastructure including shops, hospitals, and schools.

As a Handyperson at Cable Beach Club, you are an essential part of the guest experience, ensuring that every room and facility is functioning at its absolute best. Whether you are performing routine inspections or responding to urgent maintenance requests, your attention to detail and proactive attitude will contribute to the high standards our guests expect from a world-class resort. This role is available for an immediate start and is perfect for a multi-skilled individual who takes pride in maintaining a premium environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests to ensure maximum satisfaction and comfort.
  • Execute basic plumbing tasks, including washer replacements, fixing leaking taps, and maintaining toilet cisterns, valves, and ball cocks.
  • Conduct filter replacements and routine maintenance for ice machines and water coolers across the resort.
  • Manage the maintenance of lighting systems, including the systematic changing of globes and repairing of basic fixtures.
  • Perform critical safety checks and maintenance on smoke alarms and other emergency detection systems.
  • Undertake general repairs to building structures, such as repairing or replacing window shutters and security screens.
  • Assist in the relocation and installation of existing and new furniture, fittings, and equipment across guest rooms, offices, and restaurant areas.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance workshop, department vehicles, and service carts to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Maintain clear communication with the front office and other resort departments regarding the status of ongoing repairs and maintenance tasks.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar handyperson or general maintenance role, preferably within a large commercial or hospitality setting.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot a wide range of mechanical and structural issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with both resort guests and colleagues.
  • Basic administrative skills for tracking maintenance logs and inventory levels.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach to work with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Full availability to work a rotating fortnightly roster, which includes a mix of weekday, weekend, and evening shifts.
  • A valid current manual driver's license is mandatory for operating resort vehicles.
  • Full Australian work rights are required for this position.
  • Previous experience working in a hotel, resort, or luxury accommodation environment will be highly regarded.
