We are currently seeking detail-oriented Freelance Transcriptionists fluent in Akan to join our remote global team. In this role, you will play a critical part in refining language models by converting spoken Akan audio into high-quality text data, ensuring that the intricacies of the language are captured accurately for advanced AI applications.
Key Responsibilities- Listen to and transcribe two-speaker, channel-separated audio recordings in the Akan language with high precision.
- Identify and label speakers accurately as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2, ensuring they correspond correctly to their respective audio channels.
- Insert precise timestamps at the start of every speaker turn using the mandatory HH:MM:SS format.
- Maintain a clean and sequentially ordered transcript, ensuring there are no unexplained gaps or missing dialogue sections.
- Deliver transcripts that meet a strict Word Error Rate (WER) of 5% or less, adhering to Perle’s rigorous quality standards.
- Review and implement feedback from the quality assurance team promptly to refine your transcription output.
- Self-manage your workflow to meet daily output targets and project deadlines consistently.
- Native or near-native fluency in Akan, including mastery of both spoken and written forms.
- Exemplary writing skills in Akan, specifically regarding accurate spelling, grammar, and regional punctuation nuances.
- Strong computer literacy and access to a reliable computer with a high-speed, stable internet connection.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 4 hours of work per day with a flexible, self-driven schedule.
- Exceptional listening skills and the ability to distinguish between different speakers in varying audio conditions.
- Prior experience in transcription, translation, or linguistics is preferred but not strictly required.
- Successful completion of the Perle Akan qualification test, demonstrating high accuracy in a 5-minute sample task.
