About the Role
APPLY is looking for a talented Freelance Solutions Architect with deep expertise in Braze and Iterable to join our high-performing Marketing Services team. In this critical freelance role, you will help our clients design, integrate, and scale robust marketing technology (MarTech) solutions that deliver outstanding customer experiences and drive substantial commercial growth. Acting as a trusted technical advisor, you will translate high-level business goals into concrete, actionable architecture plans and guide implementations from discovery to launch.
As the Agentic Customer Experience (ACx) partner for some of the world's most ambitious consumer and entertainment brands, APPLY is at the forefront of digital transformation. We work with leading names like Lululemon, Kraft Heinz, Arc'teryx, and the NFL to turn ambitious customer experience visions into business realities. In this position, you will lead the technical architecture for CRM, Customer Data Platforms (CDP), and marketing automation systems, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and fully aligned with our clients' business goals.
Key Responsibilities- Solution Architecture & Discovery: Lead collaborative discovery workshops to analyze client business objectives, current system states, data flows, and technical limitations. Define state-of-the-art target architectures for CRM, CDP, and marketing automation integrations.
- Technical Roadmap Design: Translate complex business challenges into clear, actionable technical solution options, outlining trade-offs, estimated efforts, and potential risks for key stakeholders.
- Implementation Leadership: Provide end-to-end guidance for engineering teams during implementations, crafting clear, detailed technical artifacts, architecture diagrams, identity models, and implementation roadmaps.
- Data Modeling & Schema Design: Architect event tracking plans, user states, and data schemas to support lifecycle marketing use cases, omnichannel messaging, and sophisticated event-driven automations.
- System Integration: Support data activation strategies by designing integration patterns, ETL pipelines, and reverse ETL workflows to sync data seamlessly into downstream platforms.
- Platform Expertise: Hands-on, practical experience configuring and architecting solutions with Braze and Iterable is highly required.
- Professional Experience: Over 5 years of software development experience, with at least 5 years of experience integrating third-party tools and planning or building ETL workflows.
- CDP Domain Knowledge: More than 2 years of hands-on experience designing or implementing Customer Data Platforms (CDP) such as Segment, mParticle, Tealium, Treasure Data, or Mixpanel.
- Stakeholder Communication: Over 2 years of experience working directly in a client-facing capacity, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical recommendations to non-technical business partners.
- Development & Cloud Skills: Familiarity with APIs, mobile SDKs, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with hands-on exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Heroku) or iPaaS tools.
- Nice-to-Haves: Experience implementing reverse ETL tools (Hightouch, Census), writing scripting languages (Python, SQL, JSON), or working with platforms like Shopify and Magento is a major advantage.
