About the Role
DevHub is seeking a talented and versatile Freelance 2D Background Artist to join our creative team at Newscape Studios. As a powerhouse in the digital content space, we manage over a dozen successful YouTube channels with a combined audience of more than 10 million subscribers. Our productions range from original animations to machinima based on global sensations like Fortnite and Minecraft. This is a unique opportunity for a digital artist to see their work showcased on a massive scale, contributing to vibrant, fast-paced storytelling for a dedicated global audience.
Key Responsibilities- Design and fully finalize high-quality digital environments and background props optimized for animation production.
- Maintain a consistent aesthetic that matches the established style of our various animation channels.
- Manage a rigorous production schedule, delivering approximately 25 high-quality environments per week.
- Ensure an organized and efficient workflow by properly naming and layering files for the animation team.
- Collaborate closely with directors and lead artists to interpret storyboards and creative briefs into immersive worlds.
- Maintain a high level of consistency in lighting and perspective across multiple scenes within a single production cycle.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Procreate is essential for this role.
- Strong foundational knowledge of color theory, light, form, composition, and perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to various artistic styles, ranging from stylized cartoon to more detailed gaming aesthetics.
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to meet daily quotas in a fast-paced production environment.
- Effective communication and listening skills, ensuring feedback is implemented accurately and efficiently.
- Working knowledge of Toon Boom Harmony is considered a significant advantage but is not mandatory.
- A professional portfolio showcasing relevant background or environment art is strictly required for consideration.
