About the Role
Kardion is seeking a visionary and results-oriented Director of Procurement to lead our global sourcing strategy and supply chain operations. You will be responsible for building high-performing supplier relationships, mitigating global risks, and aligning procurement activities with our rigorous quality standards and ambitious growth trajectory.
As the Director of Procurement, you will serve as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle from initial R&D sourcing to full-scale commercial production. This remote-first position requires a strategic thinker who can balance technical requirements with financial objectives while navigating the complex regulatory landscape of the healthcare industry. You will drive innovation within the supply chain, ensuring that Kardion remains agile and competitive in a fast-evolving market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy that supports Kardion’s long-term business objectives and operational excellence.
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and selection of strategic suppliers, ensuring alignment with ISO 13485 and FDA regulatory requirements.
- Negotiate complex, multi-year contracts and service level agreements to optimize costs, improve quality, and secure supply continuity.
- Establish robust supplier performance management frameworks, utilizing data-driven KPIs to monitor and improve vendor reliability and output.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams to integrate procurement insights early in the product development lifecycle.
- Manage and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical factors, material shortages, and logistics bottlenecks, through proactive contingency planning.
- Oversee the procurement budget, providing regular financial forecasts and identifying opportunities for significant cost savings and process efficiencies.
- Champion sustainable and ethical sourcing practices across the global supply chain.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the medical device, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record of managing complex global supply chains and navigating stringent regulatory environments (FDA, MDR, etc.).
- Exceptional negotiation skills and a deep understanding of contract law and commercial terms.
- Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software suites.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
- Ability to travel up to 30% for supplier site audits and internal strategy meetings.
