About the Role
Happily is looking for a Director of Operations to serve as the engine of our internal operating system, bridging the gap between high-level strategy and daily execution. Since 2012, we have empowered world-positive organizations to launch ambitious events through our global creative network, and we need a structured, systems-minded leader to help us scale this mission by turning ambiguity into clarity. This is a high-context, high-accountability individual contributor leadership role with the potential to manage operations and people support as the company scales. If you are an expert at building structure from chaos and making sure a business is not just busy, but actually progressing, we want to meet you.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Management: Own the operating rhythm that keeps Happily focused and moving against company priorities. You will translate leadership objectives into clear owners, timelines, and weekly milestones while maintaining the company operating roadmap across sales, product, and growth teams.
- Sales & Proposal Operations: Support the sales team by tracking pipeline performance and pressure-testing pitch activity. You will help translate qualified opportunities into clear scopes, staffing plans, and budget assumptions to ensure every project is operationally realistic and resourced for success.
- Systems & Technology: Build and improve the internal systems, dashboards, and tools that make the company easier to run. You will own company dashboards across sales, revenue, and product usage while building KPI reporting in HubSpot, Google Workspace, and Airtable.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting: Partner with the CEO to translate company strategy into actionable reporting and leadership-level decisions. You will monitor performance against key metrics, identify resource gaps, and track competitor insights to inform operational tradeoffs.
- People Operations: Own the administrative side of the talent lifecycle so that recruiting, onboarding, and performance reviews are handled with precision. You will manage recruiting workflows, contractor agreements, and compensation updates to ensure a seamless experience for our global team.
- Workflow Automation: Leverage AI tools and no-code platforms to enhance company-wide productivity. You will develop and refine SOPs and internal handoff documents to improve consistency, scalability, and efficiency across all service delivery systems.
We are seeking a candidate who is highly organized and allergic to loose ends, possessing the judgment and emotional intelligence required to handle sensitive business issues in a remote environment.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in operations, business operations, project management, or a Chief of Staff role, specifically working directly with founders or executive teams.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency with HubSpot, Google Workspace, Airtable, Notion, Slack, and QuickBooks, along with a strong aptitude for learning new no-code and AI tools quickly.
- Strategic Execution: Proven ability to translate complex strategic priorities into clear plans with measurable goals and cross-functional roadmaps.
- Communication: Exceptional written communication and technical writing skills for creating documentation, workflows, and system designs.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in a startup, marketplace, or creative services agency is highly preferred, as is an MBA or equivalent business training.
- Operational Mindset: A systems-minded approach that remains practical, with the ability to hold people accountable without creating unnecessary drama.
At Happily, you will have the opportunity to shape the operational backbone of a world-positive company while enjoying the flexibility of a remote-first culture. We value results, accountability, and the continuous pursuit of innovation.
- Remote Autonomy: Work from anywhere in a globally distributed company that prioritizes asynchronous communication and efficiency.
- Impactful Leadership: Direct influence on the companys growth trajectory with a high-visibility role reporting directly to the CEO.
- Cutting-Edge Tools: Work at the intersection of creativity and technology, utilizing the latest AI and no-code platforms to streamline complex operations.
- Growth Potential: Opportunity to transition from an individual contributor into a broader management role as the company continues to scale.
