As we develop the digital infrastructure that powers the world’s leading technology companies, this role serves as a critical bridge between our technical development team and the communities, utilities, and government entities we partner with. You will be responsible for ensuring that our innovative data center solutions not only meet technical requirements but also foster sustainable long-term impact and maintain a robust license to operate through proactive, mission-driven public engagement.
In this leadership position, you will report directly to the SVP of Policy & Public Affairs, taking ownership of the go-to-market strategy for new projects in diverse regions including San Francisco, Seattle, Kansas City, Tulsa, and Tucson. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who understands the nuances of the technology and infrastructure sectors, possessing the ability to navigate complex political landscapes while building meaningful coalitions. You will work at the intersection of business development, public policy, and media relations to ensure that Beale Infrastructure remains a preferred partner for communities and clients alike.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Market Development will lead the execution of comprehensive engagement strategies designed to secure the long-term success of our infrastructure projects. This involves collaborating closely with the internal development team to lay the groundwork for site approvals, ensuring that operational conditions are optimized for the duration of the data center’s lifecycle. You will be tasked with developing and implementing strategic market development roadmaps that align with our overarching business objectives while enhancing project transparency and community trust.
A significant portion of this role focuses on stakeholder management and coalition building. You will cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with government officials, industry associations, and community leaders at both the state and local levels. By managing third-party economic development incentive advisors, you will ensure that Beale Infrastructure achieves its client goals while delivering tangible economic benefits to the regions in which we operate. Furthermore, you will act as a strategic advisor to internal teams, providing insights on regional sensitivities and helping to protect the company’s reputation across its entire portfolio.
In collaboration with our Public Relations and Communications departments, you will shape the narrative surrounding our projects. This includes developing talking points, responding to media inquiries, and creating compelling press materials. You will also be responsible for preparing and delivering sophisticated presentations and speeches to public boards, government bodies, and internal executives, ensuring that our mission of sustainable innovation is clearly and persuasively communicated during public approval processes.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, candidates should possess a minimum of 8–10 years of experience in public policy, market development, or community engagement, specifically within the technology, energy, or infrastructure sectors. You must demonstrate a proven track record of successfully navigating public approval processes for large-scale infrastructure projects and managing complex relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Exceptional communication skills are paramount; you must be able to translate technical infrastructure details into clear, benefit-driven narratives for non-technical audiences.
