About the Role
New Flyer, North America’s leader in heavy-duty transit bus manufacturing, is seeking a forward-thinking Data Scientist to join our remote team. In this pivotal role, you will bridge the gap between complex data ecosystems and actionable business intelligence, leveraging modern cloud technologies like Snowflake and Power BI to optimize our manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering processes. You will be instrumental in building the intelligent frameworks that support our Xcelsior® and Xcelsior CHARGE® brands as we lead the transition to sustainable mobility solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Data Scientist at New Flyer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of data products, from initial exploration to production-grade deployment. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into sophisticated analytical tools.
- Extract and manipulate large datasets from ERP and IoT sources to build interactive Power BI dashboards that facilitate data-driven storytelling and executive decision support.
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and predictive analytics solutions using Snowflake as the primary data environment.
- Perform comprehensive data exploration, statistical analysis, and feature engineering to enhance the accuracy and reliability of AI initiatives.
- Collaborate directly with data engineering teams to ensure the integrity and robustness of data pipelines and cloud-based architectures.
- Contribute to the internal development of AI-driven tools and frameworks, staying at the forefront of emerging technologies in the data science space.
- Monitor and evaluate model performance continuously, retraining and optimizing algorithms to adapt to evolving business data and manufacturing variables.
- Participate in high-impact cross-functional projects involving manufacturing quality, supply chain optimization, and engineering efficiency.
- Develop comprehensive technical documentation and deliver training sessions to end-users across various operating groups to ensure successful solution adoption.
The ideal candidate possesses a blend of technical expertise in modern data stacks and the business acumen necessary to apply AI solutions to complex industrial challenges.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a Business or STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on professional experience.
- Recognized certifications or advanced training in Data Science, Statistics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- A minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in a data science, AI, or advanced analytics role, preferably within a manufacturing or logistics context.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL (specifically Snowflake) and Python for data manipulation and algorithm development.
- Deep experience with Power BI for creating dynamic visualizations and business reports.
- Solid understanding of the full machine learning lifecycle, including model evaluation, validation, and AI workflows.
- Proven track record of building end-to-end models and successfully integrating them into existing business processes.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and cloud platforms, with a specific preference for experience in Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric.
