About the Role

Cue is a Copenhagen-founded startup on a mission to redefine how businesses interact with complex financial data and legacy ERP systems. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who isn't looking for a list of tasks, but rather a set of challenges to solve. In this role, you won't just be writing code; you will be an architect of solutions, an owner of problem spaces, and a key contributor to our technical foundation. We operate with a high degree of trust and autonomy, empowering you to identify what needs to be built and how to ship it to provide immediate value to our users. We value engineers who treat the product like it is their own and who prioritize shipping useful software over chasing theoretical elegance.

Key Responsibilities

As a core member of our engineering team, you will take full ownership of entire problem spaces from conception to production. Whether it is tackling bank reconciliation for legacy ERP customers or optimizing complex data ingestion pipelines, you will be expected to investigate user needs, design the system architecture, and execute the implementation end-to-end. You will make critical technical decisions that set the standard for future development and help shape the systems that our next generation of engineers will inherit. You aren't just building features; you are setting precedents for how we scale.

Collaboration at Cue is async-first. You will communicate your progress, architectural decisions, and technical trade-offs clearly in writing. This role requires a strong bias toward action; we value shipping frequently and iterating based on real-world feedback. You will work with minimal oversight, identifying what to build next based on user impact rather than waiting for a product manager to hand you a detailed specification. You will also play a vital role in identifying operational bottlenecks and proactively building the tools or features necessary to improve both the product and the developer experience.

Qualifications

We are looking for a seasoned engineer who views the product through an entrepreneurial lens. You should be someone who treats the codebase with care and doesn't wait for permission to fix what is broken or improve what is inefficient. You thrive in ambiguity and are energized by the prospect of navigating unclear requirements by asking the right questions and moving forward with confidence. Because we work remotely and asynchronously, high-level written communication skills and the ability to remain productive without constant real-time feedback are essential.

Technically, you should possess a solid foundation in backend development and have a proven track record of shipping production-grade systems. Proficiency in relational databases and SQL is essential, as is experience with data integration patterns such as APIs, webhooks, and ETL processes. While our current stack includes Golang, Vue/Nuxt, and GCP, we value your ability to learn new languages and frameworks over specific prior experience with our current tools. We care about your engineering fundamentals and your ability to pick up new domains quickly.

Candidates with experience in workflow orchestration (such as Airflow, Prefect, or LangGraph), graph databases, or early-stage startups will be highly regarded. Additionally, any experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), including agent orchestration, tool-use patterns, and observability in production agent environments, will be a significant advantage as we continue to evolve our intelligent automation capabilities.

Benefits
  • High Autonomy: You will have the freedom to own entire workstreams and make significant technical decisions from day one.
  • Remote-First Culture: We prioritize deep work and flexibility, allowing you to manage your schedule for maximum productivity across an async-first environment.
  • Impactful Work: Join a high-talent, low-ego team where your contributions directly shape the companys trajectory and technical foundation.
  • Modern Stack: Work with cutting-edge technologies, including AI, agentic workflows, and Golang monolith architectures.
  • Professional Growth: We support continuous learning and provide the opportunity to work on the hardest problems in financial data management and legacy system integration.
  • Competitive Package: We offer a competitive salary and the latest hardware to ensure you have the best tools for the job.
