About the Role

The International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC) is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and detail-oriented Communications Officer to join our dedicated global team. As a registered UK charity and a renowned global federation of over 100 member societies, ISAC is at the forefront of delivering top-tier scientific education through peer-reviewed journals, professional congresses, and our online academy. Following a comprehensive strategic review, we are ready to advance key priorities across our communication channels. This part-time (0.6 FTE), 12-month temporary role offers an exceptional opportunity for a skilled communications professional to work fully remotely and drive meaningful global engagement under the direct guidance of the ISAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Key Responsibilities

As the Communications Officer, you will project manage a diverse portfolio of activities, taking lead responsibility for Member Society relations, industry engagement, and digital platforms. Your primary duties will include:

  • Member Society Engagement: Partner with ISAC's Member Society Engagement Group to execute key strategic goals. You will actively establish a dialogue with our 107 member societies, research and update contact records, gather society insights, design regular informational newsletters, and conduct membership surveys when needed.
  • Industry Liaison: Collaborate with the Industry Liaison Group to update and expand ISAC's commercial database. You will identify new prospects in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics sectors, formulate tailored approaches to secure sponsorships, and manage relationships with corporate partners to optimize support for the biennial International Congress of Chemotherapy (ICC).
  • Strategic Communications: Partner with the CEO to develop and execute both internal and external communication schedules, including a 24-month cycle strategy for the organization's newsletter. You will also manage and secure our email subscriber database in full compliance with data protection laws.
  • Website & Content Management: Act as the Society's webmaster to proactively update content regarding educational meetings, scientific initiatives, and archives. You will provide strategic recommendations for the usability and redesign of the current ISAC website, directly managing updates to design and content.
  • Operational Support: Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to operationalize the communication strategy, curate engaging content for social media channels, and provide occasional administrative cover for the CEO and Executive Officer.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must be a self-motivated professional who thrives in an autonomous, remote working environment. We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A university degree or equivalent higher education credential.
  • Essential prior experience in a professional communications, public relations, or marketing role.
  • Outstanding written and spoken English communication skills, with a professional, business-oriented style.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across diverse cultures, disciplines, and backgrounds.
  • Robust organizational, administrative, and project management capabilities.
  • Technical proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), modern content management systems (CMS), and social media platforms.
  • Prior experience working with international organizations, professional societies, or the pharmaceutical/diagnostic industry is highly advantageous.
  • A suitable home-office setup and the flexibility to travel occasionally for key meetings, including visits to the CEO's base in Aberdeen, UK.
