Communication Officer

About the Role

The Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) Mexico Chapter is looking for a proactive and creative Communication Officer to join our dynamic team. In this remote role, you will be the voice of our chapter, bridging the gap between high-level European research initiatives and our local scientific community in Mexico. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our visibility, managing our digital platforms, and ensuring that our members remain informed and engaged with the latest opportunities, events, and research breakthroughs. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with the global MCAA mission while catering to the specific needs of the Mexico Chapter.
• Manage all social media channels, including Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Facebook, to foster community growth and interactive engagement.
• Draft and distribute high-quality content, including monthly newsletters, press releases, and internal announcements for our membership base.
• Maintain and update the chapter’s official website and community portal with accurate, timely, and relevant information.
• Collaborate with chapter leadership to promote virtual and physical events, workshops, and networking sessions.
• Ensure all communication materials adhere to the European Union and MCAA branding guidelines and legal disclaimers.
• Monitor digital analytics to track the reach and impact of communication campaigns, providing regular reports to the Board.
• Act as a point of contact for media inquiries and external partners, facilitating collaborations within the Mexican research ecosystem.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field; a background in STEM communication is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in digital content creation, social media management, or corporate communications within a professional environment.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into engaging narratives.
• Proficiency in digital tools such as Mailchimp, Canva, WordPress, and standard social media management suites.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team setting.
• A deep understanding of the academic and research landscape in Mexico and a familiarity with European Union funding programs is a significant plus.
• Commitment to accuracy, professionalism, and maintaining the high ethical standards of the MCAA.
