About the Role
CX2 is a next-generation defense technology company seeking an engaged, self-starting machinist to own prototyping and small volume production. As the first CNC Machinist, you will be a key player in building out machining capabilities for prototypes, tools, fixtures, and flight-critical components.
Key Responsibilities- Operate 3-axis CNC mills and manage CAM programming and setup.
- Help specify and purchase new machines and tools while ensuring critical dimensions are met.
- Interpret engineering blueprints and work with tight tolerances in a prototype-heavy environment.
- Mentor and provide guidance to engineers, technicians, and machine operators as an internal expert.
- Identify methods to increase production efficiency and reduce cycle times.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining, focused on prototyping and one-off production.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with CAM software and 3-axis mill programming.
- Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing requirements (AS9100D or ISO 9001).
- Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder due to ITAR regulations.
- Experience with aerospace flight hardware or drone manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CNC Lathe setup, programming, and operation.
- Experience with conventional mills, lathes, and hand fabrication.
- CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred) for designing fixturing or workholding.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50lbs and stand or walk for long periods.
- Comfort working in environments with noise, heat, or hazardous materials.
