About the Role

Blackbird Health is a clinician-founded, clinician-led organization dedicated to redefining the standard of pediatric mental health through a compassionate, whole-child lens. We believe that the foundation of exceptional care lies in the strength and collaboration of our team members. As we expand our reach across Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, and now Maryland, we are looking for a passionate Child and Adolescent Intake Therapist to serve as the vital first point of contact for families seeking support. In this remote role, you will join an innovative interdisciplinary team that prioritizes the interaction between the brain, body, and behavior to address root causes rather than just managing symptoms. If you are a dedicated professional looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of young patients while enjoying the flexibility of a mission-driven remote environment, Blackbird Health is the perfect place to grow your career.

Key Responsibilities

As a Child and Adolescent Intake Therapist, you will play a critical role in the patient journey by conducting high-quality, comprehensive intake evaluations. Your clinical insights will ensure that every child is matched with the most effective care path possible from the very beginning of their journey.

  • Conduct thorough initial clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents presenting with diverse mental health challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and specialists, to develop holistic treatment recommendations and integrated care plans.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to gather developmental histories and provide clarity and support regarding the next steps in their childs care.
  • Utilize evidence-based screening tools and clinical expertise to identify symptoms and underlying root causes of behavioral and emotional issues.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system in compliance with state regulations and company standards.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for families as they move from the intake phase into ongoing therapeutic or medical services.
  • Participate in regular clinical rounds and team meetings to contribute to the continuous improvement of patient outcomes and innovative service delivery.
  • Stay updated on the latest research in pediatric mental health to provide the most current and effective assessment strategies.
Qualifications

We are seeking clinicians who are not only highly skilled in diagnostic assessment but are also deeply committed to a collaborative, family-centered approach to pediatric care.

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related clinical field from an accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted clinical license to practice in the state of Maryland (e.g., LCSW-C, LCPC, LCMFT, or PsyD).
  • Proven experience conducting clinical intakes and diagnostic assessments specifically for the child and adolescent population.
  • Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and the latest evidence-based practices in pediatric mental health.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with children, teens, and their families in a virtual environment.
  • Proficiency in using telehealth platforms and electronic health records with high attention to detail and data privacy.
  • A self-motivated and organized professional who thrives in a remote, flexible work setting and values interdisciplinary teamwork.
Benefits

At Blackbird Health, we value our clinicians' well-being and professional growth. We offer a supportive, mission-driven environment designed to help you succeed both personally and professionally.

  • Competitive and predictable base salary with the ability to earn more through additional intake evaluation incentives.
  • Part-time W-2 employment status providing stability, security, and long-term career integration.
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage for eligible employees.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and a 401(k) retirement savings plan to support your future and work-life balance.
  • Fully remote work model with flexible scheduling options that allow you to manage your professional and personal commitments effectively.
  • A collaborative culture where your clinical expertise is respected and you have a seat at the table in shaping the future of care.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth within a rapidly expanding organization.
