About the Role
Jabil is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer I to join our world-class supply chain team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring that all necessary components are available to support both production and prototype builds. You will work at the intersection of logistics, finance, and operations to maintain a seamless flow of materials while balancing the delicate requirements of cost-efficiency, lead-time management, and inventory health.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze, maintain, and execute the Materials Requirement Plan (MRP) to ensure a consistent pipeline of materials that aligns with production needs.
- Coordinate with production teams to monitor the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and identify potential supply gaps before they impact manufacturing.
- Issue purchase orders based on negotiated terms, pricing, and conditions established by Jabil Commodity Managers.
- Proactively manage supplier relationships to ensure adherence to delivery schedules and quality standards, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Minimize material liabilities by clearly defining ownership boundaries between Jabil, suppliers, and customers.
- Support the Accounts Payable department by investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies to ensure timely vendor payments.
- Maintain the integrity of master data and purchasing planning parameters within Jabil’s ERP systems to balance procurement costs with inventory investment.
- Optimize order management processes to improve communication efficiency with global suppliers and reduce freight expenses.
- Provide critical feedback and data-driven insights to Business Unit Managers (BUM) regarding customer-liable materials and supplier performance metrics.
- Collaborate closely with Buyers and Supply Chain Management (SCM) to drive and execute Jabil’s overarching commodity and pricing strategies.
- Proven ability to define complex problems, collect relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for process improvement.
- Strong mathematical proficiency, including the ability to calculate discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and basic algebraic/geometric concepts.
- Advanced PC skills, with specific expertise in Windows-based operating systems and professional supply chain or ERP software packages.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write professional correspondence and present data effectively to managers, clients, and external stakeholders.
- High level of organizational skill with the ability to manage standardized situations and follow technical instructions with precision.
- Analytical mindset capable of interpreting graphs, rates, ratios, and diverse units of measure.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical visual aids, memos, and complex short-form correspondence.
