About the Role

Royal Caribbean International is seeking a high-energy, safety-conscious, and guest-centric Attractions Instructor to join our world-class Destination Team. In this pivotal role, you will be the face of adventure, responsible for delivering top-tier hospitality and maintaining rigorous safety standards across a variety of tours, water sports, and high-adrenaline attractions. As an Attractions Instructor, you are not just a guide; you are a safety expert and a storyteller who ensures every guest feels confident and capable while exploring our unique island experiences. Whether you are leading a kayak tour, overseeing a zipline excursion, or performing specialized rescues, your mission is to provide a seamless and exhilarating experience for our global travelers.

This multifaceted position thrives on high-intensity guest interaction and requires a unique blend of emotional resilience and physical prowess. You will lead diverse groups through challenging activities, providing expert instruction on equipment use and safety protocols while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor during high-pressure situations. This role is essential for guests looking to overcome challenges and succeed in new activities, making you a vital contributor to our brand's reputation for excellence and safety. Beyond guest interaction, you will play a key part in the operational integrity of the destination by conducting meticulous equipment inspections and participating in rigorous third-party safety audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, instruct, and supervise participants in various attractions, excursions, and water-based activities, ensuring all safety protocols and brand standards are strictly followed.
  • Deliver clear and concise safety briefings, teaching guests proper activity techniques and the correct use of specialized equipment to build their confidence.
  • Respond immediately and effectively to emergencies on land, in the water, or at height, utilizing advanced life-saving procedures and rope rescue techniques.
  • Manage and control large, diverse groups of varying ages and abilities, maintaining a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere while identifying points of interest within the environment.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and safety checks on equipment, including kayaks, paddleboards, PWCs, zipline harnesses, and rescue gear.
  • Monitor guest body language and interpersonal cues to proactively manage group dynamics and resolve concerns before they escalate.
  • Operate and maintain motorized watercraft (PWCs/Boats) for patrol and rescue operations, ensuring all communication equipment is in optimal working order.
  • Collaborate with the Attractions and Recreation Lead to set up and close working areas, ensuring the destination is always audit-ready and compliant with environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain high levels of physical fitness, including swimming proficiency and current lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training is required; two years of experience in a similar teaching or guiding role is preferred.
  • Strong swimming prowess and the ability to pass a mandatory company swim test and lifeguard certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Rope Rescue and CPR/First Aid certifications.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate large groups in a diverse, international environment.
  • Proven emotional resilience and the ability to make sound, rational decisions in high-stress emergency scenarios.
  • Physical ability to perform maintenance on various equipment and participate in the construction or repair of floating docks and buoy lines.
  • Prior experience in climbing, ziplining, or boat handling is highly desirable; experience in sales or upselling is a plus.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving and guest satisfaction.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work for a world-renowned leader in the cruise and travel industry.
  • Competitive salary and a dynamic work environment focused on professional growth and safety excellence.
  • Comprehensive training programs, including advanced rescue and lifeguard certifications.
  • Immersive experience in a diverse, multicultural team environment.
  • Access to world-class facilities and the chance to live and work in stunning tropical destinations.
