About the Role

As an Assistant Depot Manager at Unilever, you will be at the heart of a supply chain that touches the lives of nine out of ten Indian households every single day. In this pivotal role, you will support the Depot Manager in orchestrating a high-performance logistics environment that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. We are looking for a proactive leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about optimizing warehouse operations to ensure our well-loved brands reach consumers on time, every time. By joining Unilever, you become part of a world-class team that values innovation and views business as a force for good, providing you with a platform to grow both professionally and personally while making a tangible impact on the community.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary mission will be to ensure the seamless execution of daily depot operations, encompassing everything from inbound receipt to outbound dispatch. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse activities, including receipt, storage, and timely dispatch of products, to consistently meet service level and On-Time In-Full (OTIF) targets.
  • Lead manpower planning and resource allocation strategies, ensuring that shift schedules, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and dock space are optimized for maximum throughput.
  • Maintain rigorous inventory control by supervising cycle counts, performing regular audits, and leading investigations into stock variances to ensure 100% inventory accuracy.
  • Champion a "Zero Incident" culture by enforcing Unilevers global safety, quality, and hygiene standards, ensuring full compliance with all local and national regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as labor productivity, damage rates, vehicle turnaround time, and operational costs, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Act as a primary liaison between transportation partners, supply planning teams, customer service departments, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to resolve operational bottlenecks quickly.
  • Drive digital transformation within the depot by supporting the deployment of advanced digital tools and spearheading Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to eliminate waste.
  • Mentor and supervise warehouse staff and contractors, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and ongoing capability development.

Qualifications

We are seeking a results-oriented professional with a strong background in logistics and a commitment to operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field; professional certifications in warehouse management are highly regarded.
  • Proven experience in warehouse, depot, or logistics operations, preferably within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector or a similar high-volume environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control methodologies, and fundamental supply chain planning concepts.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a high-pressure, time-sensitive operational setting.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing diverse teams and a willingness to work flexible shifts to support 24/7 operations.
  • Excellent communication skills and a data-driven mindset, with the ability to translate operational metrics into actionable insights.

Benefits

At Unilever, we provide an environment where you can bring your purpose to life while enjoying a comprehensive rewards package:

  • Opportunities for rapid career progression within a global organization that values internal talent and mentorship.
  • A highly inclusive and diverse workplace culture that celebrates individuality and promotes equality across all levels.
  • Access to industry-leading training, digital learning platforms, and professional development programs to sharpen your supply chain expertise.
  • The chance to work with iconic, purpose-driven brands that make a real difference in the lives of consumers worldwide.
  • Competitive compensation and wellness programs designed to help you thrive both inside and outside of work.
