Analytics Engineer

About the Role

Civitech is a public benefit corporation dedicated to creating a fairer and more equitable democracy. We are seeking an Analytics Engineer for a temporary role expected to run through November 15, 2026. This role will turn raw voter, district shape, and product data into clean, well-modeled, trustworthy datasets that power dashboards, pipelines, and the tools our partners rely on every day.

• Build and maintain dbt models that transform raw data from multiple sources into clean, tested, well-documented datasets.
• Partner with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to translate ambiguous questions into durable data models.
• Improve data quality across the stack by writing tests, defining expectations for critical models, and triaging issues.
• Document models, metrics, and lineage to enable self-service analytics for engineers and partner organizations.
• Use Python for orchestration, ad-hoc work, or transformations that don't belong in dbt.
• Raise the bar on analytics engineering practices, including code review, modeling conventions, and CI for data.

• 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a closely related role centered on data modeling.
• Strong SQL skills and production experience with dbt, including tests and documentation.
• Comfortable using Python for data work, including pandas, scripting, and lightweight automation.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• A bias toward clarity and the ability to navigate messy civic data and tight timelines.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) or data ingestion (Fivetran, Airbyte) is a plus.

Civitech is a remote-first company hiring within a specific footprint of 27 states. This position is a fixed-term role and is non-eligible for benefits.
