About the Role
CXC Upstream Ltd is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. As a vertically integrated mining group and a premier gold producer in Tanzania’s Geita region, we operate across the entire value chain—from extraction and processing to logistics and private aviation. This role is essential in maintaining the financial integrity of our diverse operations, ensuring that all transactions are processed with precision and that our accounting records reflect the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our financial department by managing day-to-day bookkeeping, facilitating month-end closings, and ensuring adherence to international ESG principles and local regulatory requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, providing the financial oversight necessary to sustain our operational excellence and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities- Efficiently process supplier invoices, employee expense claims, and various payment requests to ensure timely disbursements.
- Prepare comprehensive payment vouchers and maintain a rigorous audit trail of all supporting documentation.
- Execute daily posting of financial transactions into the company’s ERP system with a high degree of accuracy.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer ledgers to resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist the finance team in the preparation of monthly management accounts and detailed financial reports for stakeholders.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring all financial data is ready for reporting deadlines.
- Monitor accounts receivable, following up on outstanding invoices to optimize cash flow management.
- Maintain organized and secure filing systems for financial records, contracts, and statutory documents.
- Contribute to the maintenance of fixed asset registers and inventory records across multiple mining sites.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors by preparing necessary schedules and providing requested documentation.
- Ensure strict compliance with internal financial controls, local tax regulations, and company-wide accounting policies.
- Provide administrative support for payroll processing and the reconciliation of statutory payments.
- Hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related professional field.
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of proven experience in an accounting or finance-related role.
- Prior experience within the mining, manufacturing, or heavy construction industries is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of local tax laws and international financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in using professional accounting software or large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent numerical proficiency combined with a sharp eye for detail and data accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
