About the Role
3Pillar is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to join our global team. In this role, you will be a technical cornerstone, responsible for architecting, managing, and optimizing high-performance cloud infrastructure. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a senior leader within our infrastructure team, you will take ownership of the following core areas:
- Recommend and implement industry best practices for AWS cloud architectures, ensuring the efficient use of resources and cost-optimization across the board.
- Provide technical leadership in the deployment, management, and governance of AWS and Azure resources.
- Design, manage, and mature our Continuous Integration and Release deployment processes using tools such as Bitbucket, GitLab, and GitHub, heavily utilizing Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Oversee the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters and related cloud-native tooling to support containerized applications.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive AWS disaster recovery architecture, ensuring all operations comply with required Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) during business continuity events.
- Participate actively in strategic IT planning, project roadmapping, and budget forecasting to align cloud initiatives with business goals.
- Foster strong partnerships with AWS vendors and service suppliers to ensure 3Pillar leverages the best external support and technology.
- Ensure the security and health of AWS assets through regular updates, maintenance, and proactive patching.
- Configure and optimize enterprise-grade monitoring and alerting tools to identify and resolve system issues before they impact the business.
- Guide cross-functional engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery of complex cloud-based solutions.
The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in cloud engineering and a proven track record of managing enterprise-scale environments:
- At least 10 years of professional experience in AWS and Azure infrastructure and cloud management.
- More than 5 years of direct experience managing high-availability AWS and Azure resources.
- Over 5 years of experience building and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines and utilizing Terraform scripts for automation.
- Hands-on expertise with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.
- Prior experience in a senior-level technical role within a mature IT organization.
- Extensive knowledge of AWS cloud center operations, network engineering, security protocols, and production support.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to see the "big picture" across private and public hosted infrastructure, identity management, and big data opportunities.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and the ability to plan at a strategic, global level.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics for non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior experience within the Life Sciences industry is highly preferred.
